New regulations towards textile products released by EU and AAFA

Recently EU and American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) both released new regulations regarding textile products on the NPE amount as well as 12 series restricted substances.

Recently EU and American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) both released new regulations regarding textile products. As EU and America are the big buyers of textile products in the world, the new regulations will cause big influence to textile industry.

As for the newly announced 26th regulation by EU, it limited the content of NPE that the NPE should not be more than 0.01%. From the release date there allows a 5 years transition period. After this period, the products which are not comply will the regulation will be not allow to appear in EU market.

(*NPE is the most common used detergent and dyeing auxiliaries in textile industry. To comply with the new regulation of NPE, manfucturers should upgrade the processes of bleaching, dyeing and washing. So the content control will be more difficult, which may cause the increase of cost. In the meanwhile, the cost for raw materials as well as the inspection will increase 10%~30%.)

And in the 17th version of RSL released by AAFA also listed 12 series more than 250 restricted substances in garment, shoe and home textile products.
